Originally the thermal infrared imaging technology was actually developed for the use of the US military in the Korean War. But gradually its use began to move into the non-military regions like the medical field and building trade. These are the two basic industries that utilize this energy for providing better services.
Thermal infrared technology is used in building trade as well as automotive and mechanical industries. In building trade it is specifically used by the energy auditors to detect any energy leakage, etc for better energy utilization and to decrease the domestic energy wastage and costs. The automobile technicians use it to detect leakages of fluids or air inside the parts of the automobile without having to dismantle it. Generally hand held equipment is used to detect any changes and faults in the machinery and building structures.
Thermal infrared technology has it uses in the medical field too. It is useful in diagnosis and management of patients. This is used to identify such fatal diseases like breast cancer and vascular constriction as well as monitor the circulatory system and the heart especially after complicated surgeries. This technology is safe and non-hazardous for humans.
